OTHER CONFERENCE
The First International Alexander Von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation Gender Networking Conference in Cameroon
Concept of the Conference
It is very disheartening to mention here that there are ONLY 04 registered female Humboldt Alumni (Humboldtians) in Cameroon out of a total of 60 members as of January 2019. This low or almost insignificant number of female Humboldtians is a great cause for concern to any right-thinking person; knowing that a seasoned scientist/professional is what it takes to build a scientific & technological-driven, innovative, and developed society. In Cameroon, females make up more than 55% of the total population; although not more than 15% of these female populations have obtained MA or Ph.D. degree qualifications (MINPROFF, 2018).
However, if Cameroon has to reach its full potentials in all domains of its society, it must strive to increase its number of female scientists whose talents, know-how, and natural endowments can be refined through highly acknowledged standards funding bodies like the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation scholarship/fellowship. The best way to motivate and inspire these sections of women scholars is for them to listen to some great women who have made successful career paths using renowned post-doctorate grant providers like AvH and the unlimited Alumni privileges that come after it.
We need to Support Female Scientific Researchers in Cameroon
CaPROWN Agenda
Goal of the conference
The main goal of this conference as the title (“Mindset change and empowerment of the professional Cameroonian women for development”) suggests was to set up machinery where female Cameroonian scientists, professionals, junior researchers, academia, and scholars are exposed to mentorship programs and post-doctorate scholarship award possibilities to change the traditional gender-shrewd/polarized mind-frame that has been stopping them from thinking out-of-the-box. This would involve introducing these career-oriented women scholars on how to develop enticing projects and applications that can earn them a place in post-doctorate fellowship grants and in the Alexander Von Humboldt scholarship award list in particular.
