  • Research Profile: Dr. Lem Edith Abongwa is a lecturer in the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Bamenda, Cameroon. She obtained her PhD in Medical Microbiology in 2019 from Kenyatta University. Her research focuses on various aspects of viral infections, including HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C co-infections. Her work explores strain diversity, disease progression, diagnosis, treatment response, side effects, and drug resistance mutations. She also investigates risk factors for infections and works on community health programs in collaboration with non-governmental organizations. Dr. Abongwa has co-authored several research papers and serves as a reviewer for peer journals. She is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the African Center of Excellence for Genomics and Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) at Redeemer’s University in Nigeria. She is committed to empowering female researchers and mentoring in science.
